HeartKids Spectacular 16 May 2008

On Friday 16th May the second HeartKids Spectacular Ball was held at L’Unica on Parkville.

Driven by Maureen Kear the ball was organised by the tireless commitment of members of the North West Combined Service Clubs. Over 300 guests spent a night of fun, laughter and the serious business of fundraising.

Our special guest Dr Michael Cheung, Acting Director of the Cardiology Department at the Royal Children’s Hospital, reminded everyone just why we were there with information on childhood heart disease. This was followed with speeches by HeartKids President Scott Reinke and his young daughter Sabrina who gave an account of her own journey as a heartkid.

A three course meal was complemented by a performance by the sensational Silvie Paladino, then after dinner the reason for the evening really began with an auction of dozens of generously donated items.

The night was a great success in many ways but most importantly, over $20,000 was raised for our charity.
